Port wine is a Portuguese fortified wine (brandy is used and added to stop fermentation).

Port is grown and produced exclusively in the Douro Valley - the oldest demarcated wine region in the world.

Port is sweet in flavour and red in colour (there's  also white or rosé Port but it's less common). 

It’s often served as a dessert wine. But you can also drink it as an aperitif before your meal.

There are 3 main varieties. Tawny, Ruby, Vintage. 

It's 19% vol. so you can drink and forget easy.
